Sri Lanka's power authority, Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) says the country's hydro power generation capacity has increased two fold since the reservoirs were full.
According to the CEB, hydro power generation in the country that usually stands at around 35% has increased to 75%.
The Victoria and Randenigala reservoirs are currently at spill levels while the other reservoirs have also been filled due to the heavy rains experienced in the past few days.
The CEB has said that due to the increase in hydro power generation, there has been a marked reduction in the thermal power generation.
