30% of Sri Lanka’s import expenditure comprises petroleum products, vehicle and machinery, Deputy Minister of Industry and Commerce, Jayarathne Herath today revealed in parliament. He said this in reply to a question raised by UNP MP Ravi Karunanayaka.
Jayarathne added that such expenditure was necessary to keep a country’s economy healthy. He further stated that approximately 15% of the import expenditure is on raw materials for entrepreneurial activities within the country.
