The Sri Lankan government has decided to revoke the ban on import of cashew.
The Director General of Agriculture Kamal Mankotte said the cabinet has granted approval to the decision to import cashew for local consumption.
However, the official said only a limited number of importers are licensed to prevent local cashew growers from getting affected.
The imported cashew is to undergo quarantine tests. Sri Lanka produces very god quality cashew and exports some but the prices soar in local market due to insufficient production.
