Union Action CEB Employees

Trade unions of Sri Lanka power authority Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) will meet on Monday December 05 to decide the actions to be taken to win a better pay hike. The trade unions say that they have not received response from the General Manager of the CEB regarding their demands.

The CEB employees demand a pay hike of 45% for the three years beginning from 2012. The union argues that the government grants annual salary increases of 10% to the employees of the public sector and their demand is fair on that basis.

Meanwhile, the trade unions also point out that the management has still not decided the amount of bonus for the CEB employees in December. The power authority is presently incurring heavy losses although the Minister of Power and Energy Patali Champika Ranawaka said a few months back that it was profiting.
