Hero MotoCorp, India leading two wheeler manufacturer has unveiled
India's first Series Hybrid Scooter in the form of the Leap at the Delhi
Auto Expo. The stylish looking Scooter was launched by Hero MotoCorp
boss Mr. Pawan Munjal. The Leap is still a concept but is a great leap
indeed in the India scooter segment.
Mr Munjal while speaking to reporters after the launch of the Leap said
the series hybrid technology in the new concept will make it one of the
most fuel efficient scooters. Explaining the technicalities of the Leap, Mr
Munjal said the scooter will run on a battery powered electric motor
that is recharged by a small petrol engine.
The Leap is a model that has been developed with the assistance of foreign consultants said Mr Munjal. the Leap will require several tests and changes before it can make it to the market. The fact that hybrid technology is expensive and to add it to a scooter will mean the price can be a little high.
Hence Hero Motocorp will need to ensure the pricing does not make the Leap an expensive choice to the Indian two wheeler buyer.
