Market Downward

Mid day of the week market gives negative effect. The main All Share Price Index closed down 11.59 points (0.20 percent) at 5,682.33, while the more liquid Milanka index fell 16.45 points (0.33 percent) to close at 4,909.46. Total Turnover was 1.3 billion rupees. 

Environment Sector lost today
Environmental Resources Investments warrants, the biggest loser of the day, lost half their value, sinking to a record low of 5.50 rupees, down 5.50 rupees or 50 percent. Environmental Resources Investments warrants were the next biggest loser, closing at 9.90 rupees, down 1.60.


The warrants fell after the markets regulator imposed trading restrictions as the company intends to delay conversion.

Index heavyweight John Keells Holdings closed at 170 rupees, up 70 cents with 1.2 million shares changing hands. Acme Printing & Packaging, the most actively traded stock, accounted for the largest turnover, and closed at 33.50 rupees, up 3.80 with 12.19 million shares done. City Housing & Real Estate was also actively traded, closing at 20.80 rupees, up three. Asia Aset Finance closed at 6.20 rupees, down 40 cents. Amana Takaful closed flat at 2.10.
