The National Farmers' Week and the Century Celebration Exhibition of the Agriculture Department was opened yesterday for the general public by Agriculture Minister Mahinda Yapa Abeywardane.
The National Farmers' Week and Agriculture Department century celebrations will be held in Gannoruwa, Kandy from July 20-25 under the theme, Hunger Free Proud Century.
About 217 exhibition stalls showcase rare food crops, flowers and herbal plants at the exhibition.
The exhibition is open from 8.30 am to 10.00 pm, and is free of charge for schoolchildren. Elders should buy a Govisetha t icket as the entrance ticket. Agriculture Minister requests the public to view the exhibition as it would be an opportunity to get an idea of the evolution of the country's agriculture sector.
