Thursday Trading Ended Mixed Effect


The All Share Price Index rose 3.7 points(0.1%) to close at 4,872.1 points, and whilst the Milanka Price Index lower 9.8 points(0.2%) to close at 4,312.5 points. The total turnover was LKR 336.7mn.

Top traded counters were Kelani Tyres Rs. 95.6 mn, John Keells Holdings Rs. 27.3mn, Sampath Bank Rs. 24.7 mn,  Laugfs Gas (Non Voting) Rs. 23.1mn and Carson Cumberbatch Rs. 22.3mn.
The Colombo bourse concluded the day on a mixed note where All share price index edging up marginally whilst Milanka price index went on to close in the red.
Market witnessed two off the market deals which contributed circa 35.2% towards the daily turnover.  Kelani Tyres saw 3.7mn shares changed hands at LKR 25.80 whilst 153,483 shares of Sampath Bank transferred at LKR 150.10. 
Subsequent to crossings, Kelani Tyres topped the volume list and emerged as the major turnover generator adding circa  28.4% towards the day’s turnover to close at LKR25.6 whilst heavy weight John Keells Holding reserved the second place in the top contributors list. 
Further, Sampath bank also became as one of the top donors owing to crossings and closed the day at Rs  150.10 whilst institutional interest was fixed on Carson Cumberbatch. In addition, following the dividend announcement of Rs.  1.50, aggressive retail interest was witnessed on  Laugfs Gas (Non Voting) which brought the counter to be among the top contributors and counter registered a significant price appreciation of 10.1% to close the day at Rs. 13.9.
